Our cardiologists are happy to receive new referrals for patients with cardiac issues. All our doctors are taking on new patients, but some have longer waiting periods than others. Your patient may be contacted by our receptionists to ask if they are happy for us to transfer your patient to another of our cardiologists who may be more appropriate or who may be able to see your patient in a more appropriate time frame.
Important Note For Doctors
When providing a referral we would appreciate a full medical history and copies of any cardiac-related reports you may have.
Referrals need to be provided annually or on an indefinite basis. Repeat referrals need to be provided prior to the patient’s next appointment.
Referrals can be faxed to 08 8177 1589 or posted to S606, Level 6, Flinders Private Hospital, Bedford Park SA 5042.
Referrals can also be sent by secure message delivery using HealthLink or Argus after sending your practice details to firstname.lastname@example.org.
- Please note Flinders Cardiac is not an emergency clinic and all patient attendances require a prior appointment.
- Patients should see their GP if experiencing any symptoms that require urgent attention. If experiencing a medical emergency, public and private patients should dial 000 for an ambulance and present to the nearest emergency department, such as the Flinders Medical Centre Emergency Department.
- Private Patients with Health cover insurance can be seen in the Flinders Private Hospital Emergency Chest Pain Centre (CPC), a 24/7 service. See details at http://www.flindersprivatehospital.org.au/services/cardiac-services.
- Public and Private patients who require a Specialist appointment within two weeks can be seen at the Rapid Access Chest Pain Clinic (RACPC).
The following conditions apply:
GP’s need to call Chest Pain Clinic direct to make a booking, as a patient needs to meet the criteria first before CPC can approve them for a RACPC.
